Life, Love, and Marriage

I found this draft of a blog post that began by saying "Yesterday Josh and I celebrated four years of marriage. In those for years we have..." and that's as far as I got. Wonder why? Well because in our four years of marriage we have become full time student pastors while expanding our family from the two of us to us plus two :) I'm pretty sure before I could even finish typing that sentence the phone rang with a call or text, a child needed me, or the dog needed to go out. Although it could have been many more other things, those are my most common distractions. So now that its July 26th, 2013 and not March 8th, 2013 I'm not quite sure what my exact intentions for this original post were, but I hate not finishing something so I'm just going to go with it.

Life...ah life! Life has it's ups, downs, and turn arounds!  In life I have made many awesome decisions and I try to remember to count my blessings from those decisions everyday! It would be wise for you to count your blessings as well! In my life I have made many mistakes, but thankfully I have learned from those mistakes. It would be wise for you to learn from others mistakes and not make you own. Lastly, in life I've been thrown a few curve balls. With those curve balls sometimes I have struck out and other times I have hit home runs, but most importantly I was swinging! It would be wise for you to keep trying with all you have even when something in life comes along unexpectedly!

Love...ooh la la! I could go many places with this one! Joshua Lee Smith is the love of my life! Jesus is the Lover of my soul! My goal in life is to Love God and Love People with Josh by my side!

Marriage..whew! Marriage is not for the faint of heart! I know people do it everyday, but I couldn't do marriage with the love of my life without the Lover of my soul; marriage takes three not just two! Marriage is a covenant not a contract!  Differing views on kids, money, and/or sex is the number one reason for divorce...so you better get to talking and listening!

I've heard it said that we have two ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk...when I do that I feel I am much more successful in life, love, and marriage.

  1. I loved this blog Britt and I completely understand the delay. I tried to start one myself and like you also got distracted by life. I once heard an example in a sermon about God and marriage that has always stuck with me. Think about it as a triangle, husband and wife on the points on the bottom and God at the top. The closer the both of you move toward the top (God) the closer you become to each other. Marriage is hard but when we trust in the lover of our soul it does make it so much more special. Love you and thank you for the reminder about what we are here to do for his kingdom using our marriage and family.
